A cable grommet is a small, cable management component used to protect cables and insulate electrical wiring, cables and other components from damage and abrasion; organize and secure cables for easier management; prevent tripping hazards; and comply with safety regulations. Designed to provide a tight fit in order to prevent any damage to the wiring and cables, the grommet also works to reduce the chance of electrical shock. Grommets provide a neat and organised appearance to any installation whilst protecting cables, wires and hoses from potential damage and threats.
Typically, a cable grommet is round in shape and is made up of two pieces—the inner and outer pieces. The inner piece is fitted into the hole in the metal panel or application and the outer part fits over the inner piece, creating a seal. This seal helps keep out dust, dirt and moisture from environmental impacts or to provide a secure and firm grip on the wire or cable.
Most cable grommets are defined by the materials from which they are made
Rubber Grommets: Usually made from thermoplastic rubber and EPDM and are typically used to protect wires and hoses from abrasion and damage.
Plastic Grommets: These are typically made from nylon and PVC.
Different types of grommets can offer specific benefits depending on the usability and working conditions, such as electrical wire protectors (EWPs), IP54 sealing, and high-heat resistance. They are widely used in various industries, including data centres, telecom and automotive industries and manufacturing facilities.
They are commonly used in home and office furniture, computer desks, and audio/visual equipment.
Our range also features a wide selection of accessories such as grommet sleeves – designed to provide extra support and protection to cables passing through panels, and our grommet strip can be cut to your desired length and placed around the circumference of panel holes and edges to assist your application. All grommets and accessories we stock, are manufactured from the highest quality materials.
Shop grommets such as round grommets, and electrical grommets and choose from standards such as DIN and IP rated. Cable grommets come in a number of shapes such as round grommets, sizes, colours and materials, so we have put together a few handy guides to help you choose which grommet is best for your project. Standard Grommets are available in many different materials. Snap in design enables quick and easy installation. Black PVC - protect wires and cables passing through panels. Black Thermoplastic Rubber - Resistant to most oils and greases. Withstands temperatures -40C to +135C.TPE - Is a greener alternative to PVC. Suitable for harsh environments with wider operating temperature range. Vary stable material offering a long operating life.EPDM - Heat resistant material for use in extreme temperature environments -40C to +125C.
Desk Grommets are an excellent method in organising the wires and cables that belong to your computer, telephone, and other office equipment - helping you to maintain a tidy desk and work space that is also easier to clean.
Our Desk Grommet range is made from either Nylon 6/6 or Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS). With several shapes available, including; Round, Oval, Teardrop and Rectangular Cable Grommet.
Diaphragm Grommets contain a thin central film that can be pierced to allow a range of different sized wires to pass through into an enclosure or through a panel. Two sided cut-outs have the central film in the centre of the grommet, whereas one sided cut-outs have the film to one side of the grommet.

Grommet Sleeves provide extra support and protection for cables and wires that are passing through panels.
Grommet strips can be cut to the required length and placed around the circumference of a panel hole or on panel edges. Different packaging options and materials are available.
IP67 Grommets provide a dust and watertight seal. They are suitable for external applications. Acting as a blanking plug until a cable is installed. They can withstand vibrations.
Cable Entry System Grommets are a tool-free entry and connecting technology for machines and equipment. Available in a selection of sizes, most of the range are open and feature a slot and bore. A closed option that does not have a slot and bore is also available. Made from Black TPE TPV, these grommets have an IP65 protection grade. They are suitable for use in temperatures ranging from -30C up to 100C. An accompanying Cable Entry System Plate is available to purchase separately.
Cable Grommet allows multiple cables and wires to pass through, while offering protection from sharp edges. Helps keep cables tidy and organised. Available in a choice of material options, including; UL94 V2 rated natural Nylon 6/6 with a continuous working temperature of 80C or Black Silicone Rubber with a 65 Shore A hardness rating and a continuous working temperature of 180C. All dimensions reflect the product in an installed state.
Suitable for applications where space is limited and flexibility and appearance are important. Quick and easy installation without tools. Dust tight & easy mounting.Suitable for unthreaded holes.
Flip Grommets have self-retaining characteristics thanks to the flanges on their outer face. This allows a quick and secure installation. These part comply with NAS1368-N10D specifications.
Quick Fit Grommets, also known as Open Grommets, snap neatly and quickly into position. These simple Open Rubber Grommets have a beveled edge that allows for quick fit installation, requiring pressure from only one side to easily and quickly secure into a panel.
Grommet - Open Type are ideal when access to the other side of the panel is restricted. Our Open Grommet range is available in a choice of rubber materials, including; Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) and Silicone Rubber.
Open Rubber Grommets have snap-in design enables quick and easy installation.
Our Open Grommet range is offered in a either Metric or Imperial fitting styles, and in a choice of materials to suit your application needs, including;
The stepped sleeve can be cut to your specific requirements, and can suit a range of cable diameters. They protect cables passing through panels and they act as a blanking plug until cut.
