1.5 Web beacons, which are also known as clear GIFs or pixel tags, are often used in combination with cookies. They are images (often transparent) that are part of web pages. Depending on your browser you may have the ability to set your browser to decline cookies or to prompt you for a response which will keep web beacons from tracking your activity. We recommend that you check your browser settings.
At Essentra we use the Help Scout web beacon in conjunction with cookies to provide web chat functionality on our sites. There are two cookies used by the beacon:
1. The beacon_docs_session_id cookie, which stores an ID that is unique to the visitor's session.
2. The beacon_docs_visit which stores a date that is used to record visits within the visitor’s session.
Both of these IDs are used by Help Scout to track Docs article views and search queries that happen during the session. These cookies are set as Functional cookies. If you do not allow these cookies then some or all of these services may not function properly.”
1.6 Most web browsers allow some control of most cookies through the browser settings. To find out more about cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set up and how to manage and block/disable them, visit www.allaboutcookies.org.
