Kierretulpat ja tiivisteet on tarkoitettu luomaan tiukka ja varma tiiviste joka estää pölyn, lian tai muiden ei-toivottujen aineiden pääsyn sisään. Tiivisteen/aluslevyn lisääminen parantaa tiivistystehokkuutta lisäten ylimääräisen suojakerroksen vuotoja ja epäpuhtauksia vastaan.

Kierretulpat on helppo asentaa ja poistaa käyttökohteesta käyttämällä talttapääruuvimeisseliä, kuusiokulma-avainta tai jakoavainta. Ne kestävät lämpötiloja -30C:sta aina +90C:een.

Käytetään usein hydrauliikan ja pneumatiikan järjestelmissä, autoteollisuudessa ja yleisillä koneenrakennusaloilla.
