EAE Elektroteknik A.S. is a member of the EAE Group which was established in 1995 to manufacture Low Voltage Electrical Enclosures under E-Kabin brand.
When EAE faced growing customer demands to improve the productivity and efficiency of its data cabinet locking system, Essentra developed the existing product in to a new single movement locking solution. This saved EAE’s customers valuable time and improved product satisfaction.

EAE prides itself in providing robust and functional solutions that effectively meet the needs of its customers. EAE’s RACK Data Cabinets are no exception. The cabinets previously featured a 3 point locking system however, due to customer demand the company was required to develop a more productive single movement system that would increase functionality whilst still maintaining security.
Having provided EAE with previous locking solutions Essentra was perfectly placed to supply an enhanced product to EAE.
Essentra worked closely with EAE at every stage of development, to discuss the specification of the product and ensure the most efficient solution was provided.
The most important criteria was for the locking system to be linear.
This would allow the door to be opened in one movement using a multipoint locking system, but without the need for a gearbox. This meant the lock could be set and opened in one fluid movement saving valuable time for EAE’s customers.
Using its specialist 3D printing capabilities Essentra delivered a number of 3D prototypes as well as a fully working version, enabling EAE to wholly test the product in application.
Any modifications were quickly identified and Essentra was able to adapt the solution and deliver the product to EAE, accelerating the launch of their RACK Data Cabinets to market.

Cost saving: Essentra’s custom solution specialists were able to incorporate some existing components from the Essentra range in to the new product reducing EAE’s investment in new tooling molds.
Seamless implementation: The new solution was designed to fit the same ‘cut-out area’ as the previous locking system, meaning EAE did not need to change the design of their RACK Data Cabinets to fit the new solution.
Productivity: The new linear locking system’s single movement modification provides increased ease of use and enhanced productivity for EAE’s customers.
Security: In revising the locking system Essentra was also able to make improvements to other features of the lock, such as the material. The body is now made completely from a zinc composite providing an added layer of security.
