Essentra powers Ningbo site with solar energy
Essentra Components, a leading provider of essential industrial components, has continued its commitment to sustainability by completing the installation of solar panels at its manufacturing site in Ningbo, China.
Ningbo marks the fifth in a series of recent solar array installations across Essentra’s manufacturing sites. These include Rayong, Thailand, Hengzhu and Yichun, China, as part of the companies pledge to reduce direct operations to net zero by 2040. This solar project also reflects the company wide pledge of reducing 50% of its GHG emissions by 2030, from its 2019 baseline.
With a capacity of 999.46kwp, the Ningbo solar panels are expected to generate an extra one million kwh in electrical power, reducing the sites reliance on fossil-fuel generated energy and avoid up to 839 tons of carbon emissions each year.
Jennifer Spence, ESG Director at Essentra, says that the solar panels are a further step forward in the companies’ efforts to reduce direct emissions from its manufacturing sites: “Completion of our Ningbo solar panel project underpins our overall aim to reduce carbon emissions and promote effective sustainability in the manufacturing sector across all of our global sites.
“Installing renewable energy equipment at our sites not only brings us closer to our ESG targets but also helps us to positively impact the environment whilst reducing expenditures associated with energy operations.”
