require access to only one side of the application. The two objects are aligned and the rivet is pushed into place and locked.
There are two main styles of push-in rivets
. The first style is a single piece that is pushed into place and fins or barbs prevent it from being easily removed. These nylon fasteners
are often used to hold panels in place because they are simple and fast to install and work very well in assembly lines. Fir tree
, x-mas tree
and barbed fasteners
are three common types of these panel fasteners
The second style of push rivets
are two assembled pieces, consisting of a rivet
. The rivet is placed in the aligned holes of the objects to be fastened and then a button on the top of the rivet is pushed. This action drives the rivet shaft through the grommet, forcing the ends of the grommet to splay outwards, locking the rivet into place. When the rivet is locked into place, there is often an audible snapping sound. For this reason, this style is often called a snap rivet
. A rivet tool
may be used to install snap rivets. [more][less]
