Retaining Washers

 (2 product groups)

Retaining washers, also known as captive washers, are specifically designed to be used alongside captive screws to create a self-retaining fastening which locks in place after installation. This allows for simple and secure fixing in applications where a captive style screw is required. They are designed to cover up the head of a screw as it passes through a manufactured hole or in a drilled hole to prevent the screw from backing out or coming loose. They help provide maximum security and fixity of screws in various applications.

Retaining Washers

In stock In production

A Plastic Retaining Washer is primarily used to hold screws and bolts in place during assembly and have a design that grips the outside of screw or bolt shank. Also known as an Anti Loss Washer, they provide insulation, cushioning and spacing. They help insulate fastening assemblies from moisture and electricity.

This washer range includes options with internal and external teeth with a tapered design. The washer easily slides on to the screw (or bolt) and is retained by the screw once assembled. The washer cold forms and fully enters the pitch of the screw to provide sealing.

These washers allow for preliminary mounting of the screw (or bolt) before securing with a nut. They are ideal when pre-assembly of the screw and washer is required. They also help reduce assembly time and cost.

The range includes material options that provide corrosion, abrasion and chemical resistance.

  • Materials: Polycarbonate (PC), Polyamide 6.6 (PA) and High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)
  • Colour: Natural

Threaded Captive Washers

In stock In production

This range of Captive Washers has a very shallow thread on the inside diameter. This means they can be screwed on, and once past the threads they will not separate from the captive screw or bolt.

How to install a captive screw and washer assembly;
1) Place the captive screw into the panel hole.
2) Thread the washer on to the screw, beyond the threaded part of the screw, which retains the screw in the panel.

The washers are made from Stainless Steel that provides good resistance to corrosion and machinability. The material is a popular choice for construction and automotive applications.

  • Material: Stainless Steel
  • AISI 303, 1.4305 and AISI 316, 1.4401
  • Finish Options: Black Oxide Coated, Zinc Plated and Titanium (Grades 2 and 5)
